Free Downloadable Qur'an
When you download the Qur'an software package, please note the destination folder where the
download is to be stored. If you can't find the software package once it has downloaded, just do a search of
your PC by typing in "QuranicRecitation.exe" (without the quote marks), and when the search results are given,
drag Quranic icon onto your desktop. Due to the audio files, the size of the download is more than 480 MB, so, depending on your
internet connection, it could take awhile to completely download. Furthermore, it may take a few minutes for the set-up process
to complete itself once it is initiated (see below) following the download ... please be patient. Once the software package is extracted and opens up, please note the
"Navigate" tab near the upper left-hand side top of the browser window. If you click on this tab,
you will see that the first option in the drop-down list of items is: "Show Search", and when you select this
option, a search dialog box will appear on the left side of the page. The Qur'an software program requires a PC with a Windows operating system
and an Internet Explorer browser. Or, alternatively, if one has 'Parallels', 'Fusion', or
'Bootcamp' installed on a Mac.
The search function works best with single words (but if you follow the suggestions below the dialog box, you
might be able to work out more complex possibilities). Type a word in the search dialog box, and, then, click on
the enter button. A list of locations will be generated with percentages assigned to each possibility.
Generally speaking, the higher the percentage associated with a location, the more appropriate will be the
possbility indicated to give expression to a passage in the Qur'an that is relevant to your word search. Just click on
"display" links, and you will be taken to that surah or chapter of the Qur'an and you will find your
word highlighted (in green) whenever that word appears in the text.
As indicated earlier, one will need a minimum of 500 MB of free space on one's computer. Depending on your internet
connection, the software might take a while to download, but once the software is on your computer,
it operates very quickly.

Once the download is complete, double click on it. The set-up process should unfold automatically from that point
onward.The one exception to the foregoing will be if the normal: 'C:\Users\OWNER\Desktop' file pathway has been altered from its default setting. For example, if you have renamed your computer from the generic default setting of 'OWNER' to, say, your own name or some other name, then the downloaded software program will not automatically open as it has been organized to do at the end of the set-up process.
However, do not despair. If the free software package does not automatically open following the set-up/unpacking process, you should be able to locate it on your Desktop since that is where the set-up process has been authorized to deposit your software program.
Just double-click on the program icon, and it should begin to open. Once it opens, the software program operates, God willing, very quickly.
